Anyway, here you have two good tips for following exams:

1) This blogsite has got many CLUES ABOUT THE EXAM. Look at both left and right sides of the blog because you will find some keywords that, for sure, will be part of the exams.

2) REMEMBER TO PREPARE THE AUTHORS AND EXPLANATIONS IN DETAIL. Questions number 1 and 5 are going to be constant in every test: you are aimed to write long answers and, folks, you did well this time. You must define and explain at home when you study, using years and different information. 

I'm pretty sure that marks will improve in units 2, 3...

NUESTRO CALENDARIO

¡Hola a todos!

Llevo tiempo trabajando en esta opción que, a mi juicio, es más que interesante.

Consiste en hacer un calendario en el que veamos reflejadas todas las fechas de interés, para lo cual tendréis que echarme una mano y completarlo conmigo.

A partir de ahora, estará fijo en la pestaña "calendario" y también en la parte derecha del blog, bajo las palabras clave de Social Science.

¡No olvidéis "replicar" este calendario en las agendas!

HALLOWEEN IS COMING!!!

Aunque esta entrada sea un poco repetición de aquella hoja que os dimos la semana pasada, recordaros que se acerca Halloween y que se celebrará entre el lunes 30 de octubre y el martes 31 de octubre. El lunes, propiamente dicho, haremos la clase normal aunque también incluiremos la entrega y fotografía a las calabazas además de otras actividades.

Se viene disfrazado (quien quiera) el martes, 31 de octubre. Ese día habrá un montón de sorpresas...

Y durante la semana haremos diferentes actividades conjuntas: 

a) Concurso de disfraces (con libertad para todos para disfrazarnos (o no) de lo que queramos). 

b) Talleres de Halloween, en los que haremos juegos y actividades relacionadas con la celebracion clasica. 

c) Manualidades. 

d) Concurso de calabazas “Jack’o lantern”. Consiste en presentar, aquel que lo considere oportuno, una bella y bonita calabaza de Halloween decorada con los motivos que cada uno quiera (hay ejemplos de calabazas de muchos temas: Halloween, Star Wars…). 

e) En clase, lectura de historias de Halloween.  

f) Concurso de decoracion de mesas

Aceptaremos también todo lo que queráis traer para decorar el cole.

PREMIOS CERVANTES CHICO (2017).

¡Hola a todos!

Como ya sabéis, hoy han sido los premios Cervantes Chico del 2017.

Sergio C. (B) ha sido reconocido por su buen compañerismo y amor al grupo, y como tal ha recibido un merecidísimo premio.

En 5ºB se ha vivido esta entrega en directo, y hemos conseguido capturar el momento en el que Sergio subía al escenario. La ovación ha sido atronadora.

Aquí tenéis el vídeo de la entrega de premios y, como es debido, os diré que los compañeros del colegio y Sergio aparecen a partir del minuto 50:25. ¡No os lo perdáis!

NEOMUDÉJAR IN ALCALÁ DE HENARES: PALACETE LAREDO

Palacete Laredo (Alcalá de Henares, 1882) is a neomudéjar palace. Nowadays it is the headquarters building of Museo Cisneriano.

It is located in Paseo de la Estación and was built by José Laredo y Ordoño, the mayor of Alcalá de Henares back then. It was his private house too, but he became poor after finishing it. It has many rooms with amazing effects and incredible paintings too.

There are secrets in there too but, folks, I won't tell them.

Although I would LOVE to visit it with you all, it is only opened during the weekends, in morning hours and, the best thing about it...YOU HAVE IT VERY CLOSE FROM HOME!!

Will you visit it? You won't regret!!

THE THREE SYMBOLS OF MEDIEVAL SPAIN

Hi folks!

This week we have been creating some amazing shields with plastic plates and gouache.

They were decorated with a symbol, the one you all chose...but there are hundreds of characteristic symbols that are related to each culture (Jews, Muslims...). Let's see the three most important ones:

• THE STAR OF DAVID (Jew): Star of David - Its shape is that of a hexagram, the compound of two equilateral triangles. The hexagram has been in use as a symbol of Judaism since the 17th century, with precedents in the 14th to 16th centuries in Central Europe, where the Shield of David was partly used in conjunction with the Seal of Solomon (the hexagram) on Jewish flags. The hexagram does appear occasionally in Jewish contexts since antiquity, apparently as a decorative motif. For example, in Israel, there is a stone bearing a hexagram from the arch of a 3-4th century synagogue in the Galilee.

• THE STAR AND CRESENT (Muslim): The star and crescent is the best-known symbol used to represent Islam. The symbol is not Muslim in origin, it was a polytheistic icon adopted during the spread of Islam, and its use today is sometimes controversial in the Muslim world. The crescent and star are often said to be Islamic symbols, but historians say that they were the insignia of the Ottoman Empire, not of Islam as a whole.

• CHRISTIAN CROSS (Catholic): The cross symbol, which is today one of the most widely recognised religious symbols in the world is the earliest used Christian symbol. In the most broad sense it symbolizes the religion of Christian. More specifically, it represents and memorializes Christ's death.
